Eskute V100 vs Ride1Up Revv1 HT: $559 vs $1,895

Two moped-style e-bikes, one more than three times the price. We own the V100. Here is what the extra $1,336 buys. Updated for the Revv1 HT.

Both are moped-style e-bikes sold as street legal. One is $559 and the other is $1,895. This page used to compare the V100 with the Ride1Up Revv1 FS, which Ride1Up no longer makes; its replacement is the Revv1 HT, a hardtail on the same platform. We own and ride the V100 every day, so on that side we can tell you more than the spec sheet does.

The numbers that differ

The Revv1 HT quotes 100 N·m of torque and a 780Wh battery against the V100’s 624Wh. It is also heavier, 83 lb against 70. Weight limits are close: Eskute rates the V100 for 360 lb and Ride1Up rates the Revv for 350. On paper the Revv has more in reserve for hard throttle use and longer rides.

Suspension goes the other way

Surprisingly, the cheaper bike has more suspension. The V100 has front and rear suspension; the Revv1 HT has a 100mm front fork and a rigid rear. But suspension quality matters more than suspension count. On our V100, months of rough trail riding have made the suspension stiffer, which is harder use than it is designed for.

What owning the V100 has taught us

Our crank arm got bent on the first day we had it, and the rear brake squeals and needs regular attention. Nothing has fully broken. In our own hard-riding range test, top mode, throttle only, racing on trails, nine miles used 20% of the battery display, so we estimate 15 to 20 miles per charge riding like that. Eskute claims 60, which is realistic only for gentle riding on flat pavement.

Who each one is for

The V100 is the cheapest way to get moped looks and legal road use, and at $559 you have lost very little if moped-style riding turns out not to be for you. The Revv1 HT is for someone riding daily who wants a stronger motor and a bigger battery, from a brand with a bigger parts and support operation.

THE VERDICTStart with the V100 if you are not sure you will ride a moped-style bike every day. At $559 it does the basics, and we have been honest about its flaws above. Move up to the Revv1 HT if you want more power and range, or will ride hard every day.
